A consignment boutique spent two days a month untangling who sold what. We connected the POS to a consignor registry that attributes every sale in real time and generates itemized monthly statements automatically. Settlement day now takes 15 minutes.

The challenge
With 120 active consignors and thousands of one-of-a-kind pieces, month-end was a two-day spreadsheet marathon: matching POS receipts to owners, calculating individual commission splits, and emailing statements one by one. Errors crept in constantly — around six payout mistakes a month — and consignors called all month asking whether their items had sold.

−92%The automation
We built a consignor registry where every piece is logged at drop-off with its owner and agreed split. A Make integration listens to the POS: the moment an item sells, the sale is attributed and the consignor's balance updates. On the first of the month, the system generates itemized statements — sales, splits, payout totals — emails them to all 120 consignors, and drops a pre-approved bank payout file with the bookkeeper.
How it works
- 01
Item intake
Every consigned piece is registered to its owner at drop-off, with the agreed commission split attached.
- 02
Sale attribution
The moment the POS rings a sale, the item's consignor and split are recorded automatically.
- 03
Live balances
Each consignor's running balance updates in real time — 'what sold?' is answered in one glance.
- 04
Statement day
On the first of the month, itemized statements with sales, splits and payout totals generate for all 120 consignors.
- 05
Payout and send
Statements go out by email while a bank-ready payout file lands with the bookkeeper.

The impact
Monthly settlements collapsed from two full days to 15 minutes of review. Payout errors went from six a month to zero, 'did my item sell?' calls dropped from 25 a month to a couple, and consignors now trust the numbers enough to bring in better stock.
Questions about this automation
How does each sale get linked to the right consignor?
Every piece gets a unique tag at drop-off, linked to its owner and agreed commission split in the consignor registry. When the POS records a sale of that tag, the automation attributes it to the consignor, calculates both shares and adds the amount to the consignor's running balance immediately.
Can consignors check what has sold during the month?
Yes. Each consignor's balance updates in real time, so staff can answer a question in seconds, and the flow can also send a short weekly or on-request summary by email or WhatsApp. Returned or exchanged items reverse the attribution automatically, so the balance stays in line with the POS.
What happens on statement day?
On the first of the month, the flow generates an itemized statement for every consignor with each sale, its split and the payout total, and emails it. The bookkeeper receives a bank-ready payout file to review and approve before any money moves. This is a multi-step build, usually rolled out in stages.
