Safety notices and HR announcements in Hebrew reached a workforce speaking six languages — so most went unread. Now HR writes once, AI translates, and WhatsApp delivers to each worker in their own language, with read receipts tracked per site and shift.

The challenge
The packing house employs 350 workers across three sites — speakers of Hebrew, Arabic, Russian, Thai, Ukrainian, and Amharic. Announcements went out in Hebrew only, on notice boards and one noisy WhatsApp group. Read rates sat at 34%, translations took days of borrowed bilingual supervisors, and a missed safety notice nearly became a reportable incident.

−90%The automation
We built a one-click communications flow on Make and the WhatsApp Business API. HR writes an announcement once; AI translates it into all six languages using a glossary of site and safety terms, and each worker receives it individually in the language stored in the HRIS. Read receipts roll up per site and shift, unread messages trigger automatic reminders, and urgent notices escalate to supervisors for a personal follow-up.
How it works
- 01
Write once
HR drafts the announcement a single time in a simple form — no copies, no versions.
- 02
AI translation
The message is translated into all six workforce languages using a glossary of site and safety terms.
- 03
Personal delivery
Each worker gets the message on WhatsApp in the language stored on their HRIS record.
- 04
Read tracking
Read receipts roll up per site and shift on a live board HR can check any moment.
- 05
Auto reminders
Unread messages are re-sent automatically, and urgent notices escalate to supervisors.

- Read receipts per site

The impact
Read rates climbed from 34% to 91% within two months. A company-wide notice now reaches every shift in two hours instead of three days, HR spends one hour a month on translations instead of ten, and safety briefings are confirmed — with receipts — in every one of the six languages.
Questions about this automation
How accurate is the AI translation for safety and site terms?
The translation step uses a glossary of the company's own site, equipment and safety terms, so key words come out the same way every time. For critical notices, a bilingual supervisor can be added as a reviewer before sending. Workers can also reply on WhatsApp if something is unclear, and those replies reach HR.
Where does the automation get each worker's language and phone number?
It reads them from the HRIS or the employee list, where each record holds a phone number, a preferred language, a site and a shift. When a worker joins, moves site or changes language, the record update is picked up automatically, so the next announcement reaches the right person in the right language.
What happens when a worker does not read an urgent notice?
Read receipts from the WhatsApp Business API are collected per worker and rolled up per site and shift. Unread messages are re-sent after a set delay, and urgent notices that stay unread escalate to the shift supervisor for a personal follow-up. Simple automations like this are usually live within days once the glossary and language list are set.
